Having a beginner's mindset

Ashlee Langas

Beginnings are uncomfortable for many of us. We typically don't like being a newbie at something... we'd much prefer to be pros. Yet, being a beginner requires a certain vulnerability that, if harnessed, can unlock wonderful gifts for us in every area of our lives.

Additionally, learning to return to a beginner's mindset regardless of your experience can be an important practice to cultivate over time.

Try taking a "what if?" attitude in your approach to something this week, whether new or old. What if? What if you tried that thing, tested that theory, explored that possibility? Removing the fear and pressure of results, try diving into something with a simple "what if?".

Additionally, see what happens when you go into every situation with the belief that there is something that you are meant to learn. How does your week shift when it becomes about exploration and learning, rather than accomplishment and proving?

Returning to our beginner's mind is a return to our innocence... it is reconnecting to that part of ourselves that used to play and try without fear or hesitation.

MANTRA: It is safe for me to try! It is safe for me to explore! It is safe for me to be a beginner.
