Alternating Nostril Breathing or Nadi Shodhana (Sanskrit name)

Ashlee Langas

Breathing exercises have been used for ages as a way to slow down our stress-response, heal the body, and clear the mind. This breathing exercise is an excellent way to reduce anxiety, focus your mind and balance the right and left sides of your brain. It can also help with your sinuses.

Find a comfortable seated position. Take a few long, slow breaths in and out through your nose to settle in.  Using your right hand, close your left nostril with your ring finger and inhale. Close your right nostril with your thumb, open your left and exhale out through the left. Keep your thumb there and inhale through the left. Close the left, open the right, exhale. That is 1 round. Do 4 more like this.

MANTRA: I have the power to still my mind by harnessing my breath. My breath is always available to me.
