About The Mystic Rebel | Yoga, Meditation & Healing in DTLA

Meet the owners and co-founders, Ashlee Langas and Julia Albain. Offering yoga and meditation classes and healing services in Downtown Los Angeles

Who We Are

The Mystic Rebel is a home for seekers of a different variety. We aim to bring whimsy and joy back into the mindfulness and healing arts. Maybe you’re an avid yogi, or maybe the word meditation makes you gag- wherever you are on the spectrum we have a spot for you here, where you can access tools and techniques to support whatever you are moving through while also remembering that life is supposed to be fun and a little messy. Perfectly imperfect is our goal, and we welcome whatever beautiful mess you bring with you. We’re rebels with a cause, and we want you along for the ride.

The Mystic Rebel Healing Collective

The Mystic Rebel brings yoga, meditation, and healing services with the intention of offering wellness practices that are grounded, accessible, and playful. We offer a variety of yoga and meditation classes for whatever level of experience you are at, as well as private healing and yoga sessions, curated special events, and so much more. We seek to create a holistic playground where trial and error is encouraged and there is no destination. Our Mantra: It's easy. We want to help you make life a little easier.

Ashlee Langas- Co-owner and Founder

Yoga, Stretch, and Wellness Teacher

After a successful career as a dancer with credits including competing as a top 20 contestant on So You Think You Can Dance, a 2 year residency at Caesars in Vegas with Bette Midler, music videos with Robin Thicke and Ricky Martin, Ashlee felt she needed a deeper spiritual connection to heal from depression, a tough breakup, and coming out to her family and friends. She has been teaching since 2012 and started The Mystic Rebel Healing Collective in May of 2017 with business partner Julia Albain.

“Anyone can teach a well sequenced yoga class. The real magic happens when you really SEE someone and slow down just to be with whatever experience they are having. This is what keeps my students coming back. I like to leave people a little better than I found them”

Julia Albain- Co-owner and Founder

Healer, Storyteller, and Reiki Master Teacher

Julia is a lover of people and stories, and those two things are at the core of her wellness work. Walking a path of her own healing brought her to a deep understanding of how story and myth weave through everything, and how beautiful it can be when we do the work to redeem and rewrite the old tales we've been living.

Julia is a Reiki Master Healer and Teacher. She works with a variety of healing modalities including Reiki, Integrated Energy Therapy, Pranic Healing, Shamanic Healing, and more. She is passionate about bringing wellness and mindfulness tools to people in a grounded way, and seeks to weave whimsy, art, and wonder into her life and the lives of her clients and students.

Julia's hope for The Mystic Rebel is to create a space where people can do life together in a meaningful way. No fuss, no pressure, deep community.

The Rebels

Whitney Martin- Yoga Teacher

For as long as I can remember, I’ve been sensitive. As we all are. A turning point happened in my life where I stepped onto my spiritual path, the goal being to understand and live through my sensitivity, as opposed to finding ways to suppress it. After a few years of intense spiritual exploration and growth, I kept getting the message to do Yoga. Knowing nothing beyond a handful of attempted classes about 5 years prior, I threw myself into it headfirst. I understood the message now, what was all of my inner work worth if I was not embodying it? Yoga helped me to embody my humanity with my spirituality. I completed a deep immersion Yoga Teacher Training in the beautiful country of Costa Rica, focusing on Hatha and Tantric practices while also working with the Shamanic Arts and the Energetic field. There was also intense focus on alignment and anatomy to be able to build the strong foundation needed for a safe and deeper practice. I love to work within the Hatha and Tantric practices in which I was trained, moving slowly and intentionally through sequences to feel and reconnect to the body, the beautiful vehicle we get to drive. It’s an incredible radar system, and it never lies to us. When we drop in, feel, and listen, we get so much more than just health, strength, and flexibility. We tune in to our subtle energy system and the energy systems around us, we listen to our innate Inner Teacher, and we understand that there is no separation between the mind, body, and spirit. I also like to laugh, because, well, it’s some of the best medicine. Namaste!

Jap Kirin aka Belinda Wooflson- Kundalini Yoga Teacher

Jap Kirin aka Belinda is a KRI Certified Kundalini Yoga teacher.  She spent the majority of her twenties traveling, learning a wide variety of healing modalities, and studying under accomplished coaches and spiritual teachers.  She has a background in gender competency and has dedicated her life to gender equality as a female empowerment coach, storyteller, teacher, and facilitator.  She believes that by empowering individuals through self love, self awareness, self acceptance, and by owning their own story we will empower and heal the world.

Her appreciation for Kundalini Yoga is endless; she views it as an incredible tool to explore one’s true self and fully embrace the notion that we do NOT need something or someone outside of ourselves to feel whole.  That our longing is for a connection to our authentic selves, and the more we honor that, the more we have to offer the world.

Thea Pueschel – Yoga Teacher, Hypnotherapist and Curious Human

The whys of life have always called to Thea. Why do some bodies move with ease and others with difficulty? Why do we think certain ways? She has spent her life searching for her whys, and as she has discovered her own answers, she sought to help others find out the why of their whys. She leads you through missions of self-discovery through dynamic and passive movement, the subconscious and self-study. Whether you want to see how deep you can travel through Yoga Nidra, or how your anatomy translates into poses, you will find the why of your whys and walk away with a deeper understanding of what it means to be you.
